Hi, I’m Jen and this blog is about my journey and adventures in learning the world of hunting and fishing. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and have always had a love for the outdoors. Recently, that love has grown to include hunting. My family has always hunted, but I saw it as male bonding time that shouldn’t be interrupted. In my mid-twenties, I wanted to do more than just hiking so I made it my goal to learn the outdoor activities I’d always had an interest in. My boyfriend at the time taught me how to fish. When I realized how much I enjoyed fishing, I decided I wanted to take a hunter safety course too. Last year, I made it my goal to learn more about hunting and actually get out there. I was able to go on three separate occasions and learned about upland bird, deer, and duck hunting.
In my search for information on hunting, I noticed a lack of women’s voices in the hunting community. It makes sense since hunting is largely a male dominated activity, but I was still surprised at how little there was. As someone who has a passion for both writing and the outdoors, I decided to create this blog as a way to put one more female voice out there. I’m excited to continue learning and gaining more experiences with hunting and fishing. I hope to make this a space where I share stories, pictures, recipes, and anything else hunting related. I’m definitely new to the hunting world, but I’m excited to track and share my progress with you. I hope you’ll be a part of my journey!

I love that more and more women are becoming involved in hunting! I often times feel like the odd-woman out when I go hunting and spend my days around men, but it’s absolutely worth the thrill of the hunt! Thanks for being a voice – and I love the title of your blog! In the near future i’m going to be posting some hunting stories that I have been working on for a while- but they can be kind of controversial (our past Leopard hunts, etc..), so especially with the whole Cecil thing, I want to make 100% sure that it is written as well as it can be before I put it up. Thank you! The retreat was an amazing time! I’ll be making several posts about it, I learned far too much to put into one post! Washington state is a great place, I’m glad to live in such a beautiful state. It would be awesome to make a trip to Africa one day, hopefully!
