Was it your first deer or the first one of the season? Either way, congratulations! When my Junior Deerslayer got her first deer, we got more congrats from the Deerslayer Clan than when she was valedictorian! Go figure. I had to head out to the hunting lease with all the ingredients for chicken-fried deer heart, garlic mashed potatoes, and peas. It’s what we do. Once again, congrats.
It was my first deer ever! My family is pretty excited that I got one. My brother is going to help me butcher the rest of the meat and then my dad is cooking one of their long-time hunting recipes on Thanksgiving. I’m looking forward to it. My friend loves deer heart and is going to cook it for me in a couple weeks. Chicken-fried deer heart sounds good! Thank you so much!!
